Why does my magazine rattle
Some if my mags rattle some don't. Not just ar mags. Some of the aftermarket mags do. It's not unheard of for 2stack magazines to rattle, especially pistols. Sometimes you can smack the bottom of the magazine to stop it. Sometimes if you'll reseat the spring that might do it. Perhaps a Wolff spring. Usually when I have a mag that rattles I slap the back of the mag seating all the rounds to the back of the mag a few times and the rattle goes away. It's not the mag that's rattling it's the rounds inside of it and it's common.
Rounds aren't always perfect cylinders so when they're stacked you end up some rounds having the ability to pivot. They pivot side to side and hit other rounds and the mag wall. It's probably more pronounced when there's a heavier mag in there. It could also be your butt stock. Some are more loose than others and simply have some play to it on the buffer. Edit: Sorry misunderstood you. No, magazines should not rattle in a pack. Chances are you got something inside the pack that you are not aware of.
I hold the mag with my index and fuck finger wrapped over the top holding the top round down and tap the bottom of the mag on my other hand a few times. Usually the rounds settle and no more rattle. Sometimes mags rattle sometimes they don't.
Open bolt, closed bolt, in-magwell, out-of-magwell. Sometimes downloading a rnd or two was needed. I have used these magazines with nary a rattle or a mag-related malfunction for 18 years.
I might add that I also bought a Safariland stainless steel 15 rounder that does not rattle at all The Lonewolf Glock G22 follower fail! As previously stated in this thread, I went ahead and ordered the Glock G Well here is what happened when installing them in my SD40VE magazines, they go in easily and seem to fit but one thing I noticed was they do not sit up high enough in the SD40VE magazines to hold the slide lock up on the last round and also your bullet will sit in a slightly different position on the last round as well, so long story short if they even do function properly in the gun, on every last round the slide will close and not lock back like it normally should with the factory followers.
So this fix is a fail in my opinion, but they did take away the rattle with a fully loaded magazine with the gun loaded, the funny thing is they still rattle when they are out of the gun but not when loaded and put in the gun lol! I'm not sure I even want to take the chance of firing the gun with the Glock G22 followers in lol. I may put one in and give it a try and see if it functions properly in the gun in just one of my magazines later, if they do function and fire fine with no ftf or fte, the down fall is your gonna have to be ok with the slide not locking back after every last round.
I'll let you all know if I try it out. Last edited by earthtone31; at PM. Dr Denby so is the slide rattle normal when no magazines are in the firearm? Does everyone elses slide rattle with no magazines in the gun? After all the slide has to "slide" freely. The difference is in how much. On some guns it is so slight as to not be noticeable, on some it can feel like quite a bit. That it shoots awesome is a good indicator that the amount in yours is fine.
My SD40VE has the most play of my autoloaders, but shoots and feels and size is so nice, it is my carry. Dr Derby ok awesome thank you for your fast replies the info is much appreciated! No worries. It happens. Originally Posted by Muss Muggins. I picked up my SD9VE last night, never shot it yet, and both the slide and the mag rattles. Like I said before I bought the glock followers and they do stop the rattle but they sit in a completely different position in the mags and will not lock the slide back on the last round. It annoys me most of all because out of all my double stack mags they are the only ones that rattle lol! I want to know if the people here who have done this so called fix have fired their guns with the glock followers and what were the results, if the only issue is the slide not locking back on the last rnd then thats not that huge of a deal.

Is there any type of fix for this? I'm open to suggestions. View Public Profile. Find all posts by Austin Cole. Find all threads started by Austin Cole. Visit Austin Cole photo album. Pisgah Member.
