How old is gwyneth paltrow in sliding doors

Sliding Doors stars Gwyneth Paltrow as a British woman called Helen who, after getting fired from her PR job, jumps on a tube home to find her struggling writer boyfriend Jerry John Lynch in bed with his mistress Lydia Jeanne Tripplehorn. In the first scenario, she ditches her cheating boyfriend, gets a wicked blonde haircut, sets up her own PR firm and falls in love with a gorgeous Scot called James, played by John Hannah - arguably, one of the most underrated rom-com love interests ever.

The film ponders the idea of the near-misses and what-ifs that occur in our lives and how easily it can change the course, for better or for worse, of your own. You might have seen them. Of course, the concept has been around since before the movie was released, and Peter is well aware of that. Most people are very goal oriented; they have very specific timelines to make partner or have a baby but what value does that hold?

This movie is most special for the way the two storylines overlap, making this a very original movie. Some of her lines are priceless. Paltrow has had a very celebrated career in acting and of late singing and deserves all the accolades she gets. It was also refreshing to watch her in the murder thriller 'The perfect murder', along with screen legend Michael Douglas.

Yet there are some other great performances in this film. John Hannah was exceptional as the sensitive and understanding 'James', who is helping the 'hurt Helen' back to being her 'old self'. It was very funny to see the way he handled the situation with Helen actually. Then to top it all off, we get a great performance from Jeanne Tripplehorn, who was Jerry's girlfriend on the side, who gives Jerry a very difficult time in both parts of the story.

This film also has an impressive soundtrack. Yet there are two very famous parts to this soundtrack. One is Elton John, who is given a bad mention in the movie, when Jerry is caught in a most precarious of positions while playing the Elton John song, 'Honky Cat'.

However the best song on the whole soundtrack comes from the band Aqua, with the tune 'Turn Back Time', which suited the film perfectly. The film clip to this song is also very good.

Sliding doors is one of those feel good movies, which can also make you feel sad as well. It shows how difficult life can be in a relationship and how important relationships can be as well. It also proves that relationships are extremely hard work and you need to find someone who you trust and love and that you get the same feelings back in return.

Top Gap. By what name was Sliding Doors officially released in India in English? See more gaps Learn more about contributing. I always had an inkling that I would stop acting.

I wanted to make films from the other side of the camera. I did end up walking to the tube station after I called my friend that day, and went the seven or eight stops home, watching various people getting on and getting off, seeing somebody run to miss the train and just miss it, which you see every day without giving a second thought.

I knew that would be a good place to start—you could do the split with a train. Cut there, one of you is on the outside of the train, and the other you is inside the train. The character was always a woman for some reason. It was never a man. I remember the next few days very vividly, as I was thinking about who this person was—Helen—and why she was on the train, and what happens in those 10 minutes you lose or gain depending on if you catch or miss your train.

I liked it because it was both poignant and simple. In truth, because I had never written anything properly before, I just let the next thing happen.

But I believe that it is, and I think a lot of people believe in that kind of ultimate destiny. I like that as well—I do believe in that romantic serendipity. That would be great. Why is that? The film asks: Was she meant to catch that train? And the answer is no. But was she meant to meet James? Yes, she was, but through different circumstances. But because one of them dies, you know this was the path she was meant to take. I did want to talk to you about your ideas of fate—mostly, I wanted to know if you think of Sliding Doors as being a science fiction or a fantasy movie?

What would you describe it as? I remember doing interviews when it first came out. I said that I did feel differently now, that I had given myself over a little bit to fate and destiny.

It was probably 20 years ago to the day—that would be eerie if it was—when I was doing interviews in Phoenix. Miramax was distributing the film, and they had me going all over America. There was a group of journalists asking me questions about fate, serendipity, why things happen, what-ifs, all that. But let me just say something that might make you think about that. I do want to briefly touch on something you mentioned, about how Miramax distributed the film.

No one in their right mind is not utterly appalled by the revelations or allegations, whatever you want to call it.
